[edit] Story:
In the small town of Sosnivka students have limited access to both constructive after school activities and practical career related skill development. There is also no cultural or artistic center where students can learn about and produce Ukrainian folk art contributing to a positive self and national image. Andy Hallock, TEFL PCV Group 27 decided in cooperation with Chervonohrad School No. 13 to change that. A proposal for a SPA project to create a Ukrainian Folk Art Center was submitted and approved. The center will instruct students in Ukrainian folk art and in addition a selected group of more senior students will receive instruction in basic accounting, marketing and business management. These students along with advisors will create business and marketing plans to develop a student corporation to sell selected students works both locally and with organizations in the U.S. Students will also ensure continued operation of the club by being responsible for training of subsequent members. Profits from the sale of the art work will fund the future operation of the art center. In addition the business club will not only allow students to gain much needed practical career relevant skills but it will potentially serve as a funding source of other school projects.
