Info about the Teacher Trainings

The Forum is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that brings together language teachers at all educational levels interested in quality language education development. Our organization is best suited to help the teachers of this region because the Forum is run for and by local English teachers. Our goals are to improve teaching techniques and develop innovative language teaching method through regular teacher training events led by local trainers and to collect and disseminate information about new developments in language teaching and professional development opportunities for teachers. We will achieve these goals through monthly teacher trainings, 4 of which will be held in rayon centers. We are requesting funding to assist in the organization of teacher training events in this community between September 2009 and April 2010. It is important to organize such training events locally because teachers cannot afford to travel to the capital to attend professional development seminars. By participating in locally organized teacher training events, local English teachers will have the opportunity to improve the quality of their instruction. The community is highly invested in the success of the Forum. The university has volunteered the use of its facilities for all trainings conducted in town. Certified local trainers have volunteered to lead trainings free of charge. The Bishkek branch of the Forum has donated newsletters and promised to invite teachers from the community to attend their annual conference free of charge.
