Susan and Paul Sprachman, Ghazni, 1969-1971. Still married, and still involved with this part of the world. After Afghanistan Paul went on to work on a PhD in Persian and Arabic. Susan and Paul lived in Iran for 4 years, leaving just before the Islamic Revolution. Paul has been teaching Persian and Middle Eastern Studies at Rutgers, and Susan conducts public policy survey research, mostly focused on early childhood education and child development. Although they have not been able to travel back to Afghanistan, they regularly visit Iran. You can see pictures of their travels at www.flickr.com/photos/susansprach
