Biography of Stephen L. Krasner
Stephen Louis Krasner, an active member of the Newburgh community and local businessman, is very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute his extensive background in leadership and teamwork towards the office of Town Supervisor.
Most recently, Stephen has launched projects in both the nonprofit and private sectors, while earning his Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy while working full-time as a Senior Litigation Paralegal in some of the country's top international law firms. His current entrepreneurial undertakings include a global nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating humanitarian leaders from the developing world, and a major nationwide retail concept now in the developmental phase.
In addition to his professional and volunteer experience, Stephen, a native of the Washington, DC area, has long been involved in local politics and made an appearance on the Maryland primary election ballot as a delegate to the Democratic convention.
Prior to his six-year legal career, Stephen served as a Volunteer with the United States Peace Corps, continuing a long tradition of family service established by his grandfather, an Army veteran of World War II, and continued by his father, who served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. In the Peace Corps, Stephen was stationed in Luz de America, Ecuador, where he applied his unique blend of skills towards creating and sustaining a diverse range of projects in response to local development needs. His achievements in Ecuador include partnering with an international nonprofit to secure new computers for the town’s schools, leading community-based banking and small business initiatives, developing and conducting interdisciplinary classes for local youth, and working closely with an NGO to provide health-related services and products. Stephen has been delighted to return to Luz de America and find that many of his projects have continued to grow and flourish following his service.
Stephen graduated from the University of Hartford in 1999 with a B.A. in Political Science and History and an impressive list of elected positions within the academic community. He spent five months after graduation working as a volunteer and backpacking throughout the Middle East.
Having now been settled in the State of New York for several years with his wife Lisa, a professor of Psychology at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and their daughter, there is nowhere he would rather be but the Town of Newburgh.
