The proposed Primary English Fair will take place from March 23-29, 2004, in Tashkent City, Sirdaryo, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions. One day will be spent in each city. At each fair, Uzbek primary English teachers can receive materials and ideas that will help them in their classrooms. Both Peace Corps Volunteers and host country national teachers will set up booths that will distribute teaching tools to primary teachers. Teachers can visit the booths for four hours. Booth subjects will be classroom management, art, songs, puppets, visual arts, health, grammar and phonics. A local organization for Uzbek teachers, Uzbekistan Teachers Association (UzTEA) will also be present to share information about their organization. There will be a registration table where teachers will receive a folder with information on the booths, as well as an evaluation sheet. Upon turning in their evaluation, teachers will be able to enter a raffle drawing that will provide the winner with an Oxford English Picture Dictionary. Partnership funds are needed to pay for refreshments, supplies and transportation for host country national advisers and English fair participants. Host country nationals and local institutions have provided in-kind contributions totaling 42 percent of the total budget. | The proposed Primary English Fair will take place from March 23-29, 2004, in Tashkent City, Sirdaryo, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions.
