	Peggy McClure served as a Peace Corps Volunteer health educator in Togo in the early 1970s after graduating from Stanford University with a degree in psychology. On her return to the US, she went to graduate school at The Ohio State University receiving an Masters of Science in Preventive Medicine from the College of Medicine. She stayed on for a third year, and completed all requirements for a PhD, with the exception of a dissertation. She and her RPCV husband headed to Anchorage, Alaska. Peggy worked for a health systems agency which planned for south central Alaska, and had two children, Lissa Wilson, born in 1979, and Eric Wilson, born in 1980. Peggy move from Alaska with her two children to California, where she grew up, to attend Stanford University Graduate School of Business. After receiving her MBA, Peggy moved to Portland, Oregon where she had a 20-year career with Kaiser Permanente. She held a number of positions, working for the medical group, as assistant administrator of a hospital, as health systems manager (coordinating the implementation of the electronic medical record and care management programs), and finally as vice president for quality systems. On retirement from KP Northwest in July, 2006, a RPCV friend she served within Togo sent her the job announcement for the country director position. Peggy is married to Bill Merritt, a writer, and they are happily exploring southern Africa when they have free time.
