Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Colorado
We have 4 main areas of activity:
Community - We have participated in community activities and projects such as the People's Fair, served meals at the Denver Rescue Mission, Adopt-a-Highway, Habitat for Humanity and Food Bank of the Rockies. In addition RPCVC helps former volunteers meet the third goal of the Peace Corps by sharing their unique experiences with local community groups and organizations through the Speakers Bureau.
Giving - Fundraising activities from the sale of calendars and memberships have allowed us to support such overseas project as Peace Corps Partnerships, a Croatian orphanage, and an Albanian medical project, as well as local projects such as Trees, Water and People, Fast Forward to Literacy and Warren Village.
Social Events - RPCVC sponsors gatherings monthly at various locations around the Denver area. Group meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of odd numbered months (January, March, May, etc) at 7:00pm. Other social events include potluck dinners, group ski trips, summer picnics, social happy hours, ethnic restaurant outings, a book club, and an annual holiday party.
Outreach - 6 RPCVC newsletters are published each year. Members receive this bulletin including all upcoming local events and some national Peace Corps news. Participate in NPCA/PC Mentoring Project.
