Volunteers Who Have Served in Nyololo Shuleni
Nyololo Shuleni is a village with a population of approximately 1,300. It is one of five villages of the Nyololo Ward in Mufindi District, Iringa Region. The approximate elevation of Nyololo Shuleni is 1,800 meters above sea level.
Nyololo (S) is dominated by the Hehe Tribe but includes members of other tribes, such as the Bena Tribe and the Kinga Tribe. Nyololo (S) is primarily composed of subsistence farmers, who grow primarily, corn, sunflower, beans, tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers.
There is a large Catholic Mission in Nyololo (S), which built a new orphanage and hospital in the last few years.
Nyololo (S) is located approximately 8 kilometers off of the Tanzanian-Zambian Highway, which provides easy transportation in the form of minibuses to Mafinga and Iringa to the north and Makambako and Mbeya to the south.
