Nsubane Garden Project and Borehole - Improving Immune Systems Against HIV/AIDS<br />
Nsubane is a small, rural community in the southeastern corner of Swaziland. This area of the country faces many challenges to development such as drought, unemployment, and the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS. With 38.6% of the population infected with HIV, Swaziland is losing the productive members of her communities, leaving behind numerous orphaned children.<br />

The local market association is Nsubane is seeking to establish a marketplace in the community. Currently, they are selling basic goods, snacks, and household supplies.<br />
<br />
The Association would like to start a garden project whereby vegetables could be grown and sold in local markets. The soil is ideal for produce and the climate would allow year-round productivity. The biggest barrier is water: Rains are not sufficient to maintain a garden and the existing borehole is government-owned and therefore cannot be used for agriculture purposes. The community is now asking for Partnership assistance for the construction of a borehole that will be part of an irrigation system for the garden project. The community has provided the land and will provide the labor costs as well as log posts with which to surround the garden.</div>Willbot
