Info about the Notsé Latrine Project

The proposed project requires funding to construct 50 familial use latrines throughout the city of Notse, which lacks a sewage infrastructure. As a result the city has a high rate of disease and water sources have become contaminated. The latrines will be built using cement bricks, corrugated metal roofing, and one pit. In addition, the latrines will be constructed using the model for proper ventilation, cementing the hole to reinforce the structure, and allowing it to be emptied in case the need arises in the future. The city of Notse will donate sand, wood, and transportation and labor costs contributing nearly 50 percent of the total project cost. Families that receive a latrine will also receive training on maintenance and hygiene. Partnership funds will be used to pay for building materials.
