Nicaragua maps

Toni Edwardson, 2007, Granada, Nicaragua.
"Many of the children, when asked where Nicaragua was located, would point to Russia or to Canada, thinking they lived in the biggest place in the world. This was because that they had never seen a world map before these. Books and maps are hard to come by here. Now, they have the chance to actually learn and see where they live realitve to other countries. After painting the maps, we also gave the teachers a short workshop on how to use the maps during class. This project has been one of our very favorites during Peace Corps because it sparked immediate interest and will be a very sustaintable tool even after we're long gone." World Map Project
