Mr. LaMore served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Morocco as a Business Development Advisor, 2005-2007. During his 27 months of service, Mr. LaMore collaborated with in-country Peace Corps staff, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, Social Economy and Artisan Handicrafts, and other volunteers to facilitate training sessions for rural artisans in his community and incoming volunteers. Mr. LaMore partnered with other volunteers to organize a dozen local and regional craft festivals and marketing workshops where more than 500 artisans from the combined activities took advantage of new market and networking opportunities.
Sustainable results from Mr LaMore's service included rural artisans' increased understanding of fundamental business practices, access to new markets, and improved product development.
Mr. LaMore not only was an active member within his community but also was active with the volunteer community. He was asked to take on the responsibility of regional safety warden to disseminate communications relating to safety to volunteers within and traveling through his region as part of the emergency protocol. Additionally, Mr. LaMore chaired the in-country, peer-driven Volunteer Support Network (VSN) to address concerns and offer recommendations to combat volunteers' low morale to in-country staff.
