1. Andrew Head, Tali - Northern Region
2. Men as Partners (MAP): A workshop held for 20 young men in the
community on the following topics: learning about our bodies, sexual
consent, family planning, gender attitudes and inequalities,
fatherhood, love, and domestic abuse. The purpose of the workshop was
to change negative attitudes/behaviors through open discussion on
positive alternatives.
3. The Men As Partners Manual was the Bible for this project. It can
be obtained from your APCD or Omane.
a. Use the MAP manual to create your desired itinerary. b. Write the PEPFAR proposal for funds. c. Invite participants and organize venue, supplies, activities. d. Have your workshop.
4. Maria Karlya and I did this together. I think it was great to have both a male and female perspective on a lot of these issues. Keep the workshops small (20-25 men) and have more than one if you have a lot of people interested. The workshop was given in English and that also really help because there wasn't a translator constantly repeating everything.
