Info about the Kolos Promise for a Better Education

The Kolo Zone in the Agou prefecture is comprised of 8 villages with a population of 10,000. Education is highly valued in Kolo, but teachers lack the resources they need to deliver effective lessons. Presently teachers write all their lessons on the chalkboard, and students then copy the information into notebooks. The information is regularly erased so if a student misses a lesson due to illness, farm work, or family difficulties there is no permanent record of what he or she has missed. With proper teaching materials such as textbooks this problem can be overcome. Also missing is athletic equipment for the students to use during their physical education hour. School directors in the Kolo Zone are requesting Partnership assistance to purchase textbooks, visual aids such as maps and science diagrams, reference books, slide rulers, protractors, t-squares, and footballs. With these items, teachers will be able to improve the quality of their teaching and provide students with a better education.
