Info about the Khorol English and Technology Project

The English and Technology Project is an idea that came from teachers, students, and parents of Khorol, a small village in the Russian Far East. The project will facilitate, simultaneously, the teaching of English and computer skills to students aged 10 to 17 years of age. The idea is predicated on the fact that English and technology are keys to a successful future for students growing up in the Information Age. By bridging the digital divide seperating the less prosperous villages from the more successful cities in the Russian Far East, this project will improve the village students' chances when entering higher education or the workforce. The community is covering the costs of space and furniture, a person to mange the project, computer training, and security. Partnership funds are sought to cover the cost of computer equipment and training materials. This project will enable over 600 students and teachers to become participants in the Information Age, as they are empowered to compete in a world market demanding English and computer skills.
