First time I was a PCV was in 1964 in Malaysia VII. I worked in Sarawak in the 3rd Division as a PEMS. This was on -the-job teacher training in a rural/remote schools + urban schools in Sibu, Sarikei and Kuching. All teachers in training had passed their Cambridge Exam but did not have enough money to go to University; training in this position would get them free University admission. The second time was in Health as a Medical Social Worker at the University Hosital of the West Indies. I worked in a "sensitive" area and trained Jamaican SW's in acquiring the special skills needed to work in his particular area. UHWI is the Medical Training Hospital for the Caribbean and there were Social Workers from other islands also in the program. This was a earmarked program.
