Info about the Kanoni School for the Future

Kanoni I Primary School is a government aided primary school in rural Uganda. Being a UPE (Universal Primary Education) school, it strives to cater for the educational needs of all the children in the community. Our vision is to create a conducive learning environment so that all our pupils receive a quality education. In order to achieve this, our school-community has decided to complete four semi-finished classrooms, equip them with seats, storage facilities, and places to hang things. In addition, we will train our teachers to create a child-centered classroom environment. In 1998, the parents conceived the idea of constructing four classrooms. Through the contributions of the parents, the school was able to being on construction. After contributing for more than three years and soliciting help from a local member of Parliament, the parents were able to build the classes up to their current state. We are now preparing to plaster, floor, and equip the classrooms with furniture. The parents have agreed to provide all labor and local materials and to ensure that the buildings are properly maintained. In addition, the Kanoni Coordinating Center, a facility of the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports, has pledged to hangle all training needs for the staff. The community of Kanoni is now requesting assistance to complete the classrooms. The completion requires the purchase of cement for plastering walls and floors, paint, and the construction of classroom furniture.
