I was a Secondary English Teacher in Pernik, Bulgaria from 2006-2008. Teaching was a challenge and I pushed the envelope, let's say. To keep the kids on their toes, I wrote songs about their behavior and life in general in Bulgaria.

At the beginning of my second school year, there was a nation-wide teacher strike and all Peace Corps Volunteers were required to report for duty. For two months, I basically reported to an empty classroom.

The strike ended and the students came back and we continued our English lessons. My service ended in July 2008 and I left my students a cd of 18 songs I wrote during my service.
