Building on ideas taken from a typical Montessori classroom setting, teachers at the local school in Vidin have decided to build a language resource room that is student-centered and will address the differing needs of the school's students. The proposed room will consist of different stations between which the students will rotate. At the first station, students will be able to listen to recordings of the target language. The second station will have a TV where students can watch films and educational programs in the target language. A third station will have shelves full of language games as well as some Montessori reading materials. Bookshelves containing textbooks, fiction, reference books and other materials will comprise the fourth station. The last station will have a computer with word processing and language software. Equipment is also being requested for use by the language teachers such as a copier and laminating machine. Partnership funds will be used to purchase materials to repair the exisiting room, furniture, a TV with VCR, seven CD/Cassette players, nine sets of headphones, audio CDs, VHS tapes, language software, materials to create Montessori Reading activities and language games, a copy machine, laminating machine, and some books.
