Burkina Faso is a country with few major resources. Their greatest resource, however, is their people. Burkina Faso means "Land Of The Upright" and it is certainly so. The Burkinabe I knew not only welcomed me to their country, but to their families. My primary project was teaching three levels of English at the local secondary school, with an emphasis on improving girls' education. I also formed a girls' soccer team, organized a project to paint a world map at my school, taught sex education, facilitated a library project, and served as the gender and equality committee secretary. The most important part of my service experience was the relationships I formed with the people of Rollo, relationships which continue to this day.
