[edit] About Gerald Plotkin Today
A high school and community college French instructor (now semi-retired) I always include presentations on the Peace Corps experience in West Africa, accompanied by slides taken in Abidjan and during travels, and conclude the session with a brief lesson in Dioula, the language studied by PCVs in Cote d'Ivoire. Current French textbooks include a substantial section on francophone Africa, now that it is conceded that French is not just spoken in France and Quebec. Students enjoy hearing from someone who tells stories about living, working and traveling in Africa. Meeting other RPCVs is a blast as well.

[edit] Publications based on Peace Corps Experience
My website has been recognized by several French- or African-based sites as an African language resource. This is in reference to a short conversation in Dioula which I analyze grammatically and culturally.
