To provide 25 nurses from four Feghana clinics with a Nurses¿ Technical Training with the objective of teaching them basic nursing assessment skills and providing them a safe environment in which to practice those skills. Nurses will then use these skills on a daily basis as they work in the clinics and communities. To provide 15 school nurses who actively teach health in their communities with a Non-Formal Education Training (NFE) that includes non-formal education techniques and alternative teaching methods that increase their ability to relay important healthy living information to peoples of all ages. Central Asia Free Exchange (C.A.F.E.) has been working around the Ferghana Valley, Uzbekistan for the past 9 years. Their host country national and foreign nurses and doctors have been working with local nurses and midwives to improve the Uzbek medical system and the medical care provided. Last year C.A.F.E. organized and conducted nurse¿s technical trainings and non-formal education trainings in certain areas in the Ferghana Oblast. It is the goal of these four clinics to have this valuable training made available to their own nurses. Partnership funds are needed to purchase training materials, pay for trainer/translator fees, as well as room and board.
