Over the course of sixteen months, people have expressed the desire to learn the technical skills necessary to extend their educational opportunities and secure jobs that can increase their standard of living.<br /> <br /> Plagued by the limitations of poor infrastructure (deteriorated roads, dilapidated bridges, non-existent phone lines), educational resources are scarce. Last February, in response to community demand, a night school program was developed and mothers and fathers have enrolled alongside their teenage children. To fully and adequately ensure that the national educational standards for high school are being met, computer classes must be integrated into the learning environment. Anticipating the computer lab, the community put forth the initiative to professionally finish and secure a classroom within the school compound. When the national energy supply company of Costa Rica learned of this effort, they promised to install a satellite for Internet, if the lab can be successfully outfitted with computers.<br /> <br /> Not only will the computer lab advance education and create business opportunities, but it will enable towns in the area to close the development gap that currently prevents the upward mobility of its citizens.</div>
