Info about the English Textbooks

The aim of this project is to provide educational materials for the second and third year English classes at the secondary level, increasing the quality of education received at a secondary school in Niger There are many challenges to effective education in Niger, and education statistics show Niger at the bottom of the stack.

Education is one of the major foundations of any effective development strategy and positively impacts economic as well as social well-being. The lack of textbooks for students and teachers all over Niger is one of the several serious failings of the Nigerien education system. Information is either copied from the blackboard or dictated. Thus, teaching and learning become difficult tasks. Assisting English teachers in classes has revealed the serious magnitude of the lack of books on the ability of overstressed teachers who have over 60 students to teach without books and other teaching aids.

Funds raised through the Partnership Program will purchase essential reading materials that will immediately improve the competency of teachers and improve student learning. A sum of $818.19 US is being requested for this undertaking.
