Info about the Djabagbal Primary School Reconstruction

The school in the village of Djabagbal was built over ten years ago. It has mud walls, a grass roof and two classrooms. This school building is too small for its student body and during the rainy season last year one of the mud walls disintegrated. The village has resolved to build a new school, with three classrooms to accommodate more students, and of stronger materials to avoid repetition of this year's loss. The new school will be relocated to offer better access, increasing the number of families who have access from 60 to 100, and increasing access to serve three villages. The new building will be of mud bricks which will be more sturdy than the previous structure. Funding will allow for improved roofing, (metal rather than grass), cement foundation and teak rafters and planks. The village will provide the foundation stones, mud bricks and labor costs associated with the project.
