In this village in El Salvador, the current need is the reparation of the Community House located in the center point of the community. The primary objective is to replace the roof that has survived 20 years of torrential rains and earthquakes, but no longer withstands the elements. In addition, painting the community house, installing 5 lights and 12 meters of guttering, buying 50 chairs and 5 tables, as well as 3 community event boards are contemplated.
The Community House, or familiarly known as the Casa Comunal, is run by the ADESCO, Association for Community Development, is where all community events are held, and is the place where all outside NGOs and instutions come to hold meeting or give trainings in health, agriculture, small business, etc. Also, the Community House is the only local source of chairs and tables that are lent out for birthday parties, weddings, festivals, deaths, quinciñeras, etc.
At the moment, the community house is only available from December to April in the months that it does not rain. The goal is the enable its use all year long and provide it with lights and materials that will allow it to serve the community better in the future.
