Info about the Camp Excite Healthy Lifestyles

Camp EXCITE is a long running summer and weekend camp program that has taught campers on a variety of topics, most recently Fine Arts, Debate, and Sports. Camp EXCITE Healthy Lifestyles is a 5-day overnight camp for pupils aged 14-17. The main goals of the camp are: to provide campers with a basic understanding of new and interesting sports and other topics beneficial to their health, such as Karate, Dance, Aerobics, Nutrition, and HIV/AIDS. Another goal is to teach campers how to design and manage their own projects to improve some part of their community. We hope to encourage activity in the community, and create healthy Ukrainian youths.

From morning until afternoon campers will take part in a wide variety of informal training sessions and formal classroom lessons dealing with healthy activities, topics, and designing projects. After scheduled activities campers have the opportunity to play American sports e.g. Baseball, Football, Dodge ball or pursue any of the topics taught during the camp.

The community contribution will cover food, lodging, and material expenses (cooking, cleaning, and classroom supplies) for the camp in the form of camper tuition. However this year Camp EXCITE is branching out and inviting pupils from all parts of Ukraine to attend the camp. The funds requested in this grant will go to paying for traveling expenses of these pupils for whom Camp EXCITE is a completely new experience.
