Build a Library, Build a Future

Info about the Build a Library, Build a Future
An indigenous community in Ecuador wishes to construct and fill a library for its elementary school in the Northern Sierras of Ecuador. The kids have no books to learn to enjoy reading with, or books to further their learning if they so desire. A collection of books in Spanish, English, and Kichwa is ideal. Learning to read is a gift for a child that will last his or her whole life. Once you learn to read, you never forget it. The kids will be able to learn to read, then read to learn. By this philosophy the kids can take the future of the community and apply knowledge through reading to improve the quality of their own lives. Even if only one child grasps onto this concept, that one child may be the one to grow up and help the whole community.
We would also like to expand the number of computers in the library. The school already has four computers which classes of 16 utilize twice a week, but it is difficult to learn with four kids on each computer. We hope to add two additional computers to aid in learning with games and hopefully internet in the future. With the equipment needed, the children can receive the education that every kid deserves.
Give a book (or a dollar) change a life.
