Info about the Audio-Visual and Duplicating Resources for Bobur School

Bobur School #1 in Bogot, Khorezm, Uzbekistan is in need of teaching tools for their 1200 students. The community has stated their need in a formal proposal to the Partnership Program and is more than willing to provide 25% of the cost of the tools and use of the tools. Currently not all teachers or students have books due to a lack of funding and availability. There are no copying capabilities at the school and only one very old dot matrix printer attached to the school's computer. Recently a number of story books, audio tapes and workbooks were donated to the school by ADRA. With only one copy of each of these donated materials there is no way to share the information among the children. The donated materials inspired an idea to implement a multi-media approach to teaching students that would expose students to a variety of English speakers as well as different approaches to learning. The overall goal of the proposed project is to improve English speaking and comprehension of the students of Bobur School #1. An additional objective is to improve the quality of teaching by providing additional resources and methods to teachers and enabling them to use up-to-date communication methods. Partnership funds are requested to purchase a television/VCR, stereo system, video camera, laser printer and copier in order to achieve these goals.
