Info about the An Improved School for the Entire Community
The director of a school in Macedonia, with the help of two Peace Corps volunteers, will improve the school for all of its students - young, old, disabled, athletic, artistic. This project aims to enable the school to acquire a few extra things to improve the school greatly: Ping Pong tables for the students in the villages, sewing machines for the students with disabilities and in the villages and a cordless microphone system with speakers for school programs.
This project will affect every student in the school! Ping Pong is a national sport that is loved and played in the poorest of communities with the most minimal of equipment. Sewing is a skill that is used to earn income - a person who sews well can be a breadwinner for a family. Dance and song are beloved pastimes of every Macedonian. They bring communities together and let children shine. This entire program enables the school to use the resources it has and combine them with generous people to aid students in reaching their potentials. The project will allow for Ping Pong tournaments, concerts, dramatic presentations, exhibitions, classes, patron day celebrations, games and the crafting of artistic creations.
This project will engage many of the local teachers who haven’t previously worked on projects, enabling them to utilize their skills and gain a new skill set – thus benefiting their students and, on a larger scale, the entire community.
