About Alan Kurtz Today

Alan Kurtz taught secondary school science, first in a traditional junior high near Philladelphia, then in an alternative school in Westen Massachussetts. He went to Cuba with the Vencermos Brigade in 1971. He was briefly active in local theater in the early 1970s. He got masters in education at the University of Massachussetts, then a doctorate in counseling psychology in 1975). Later, he worked as a psychologist in a mental health center serving mostly latino clients in Western Massachussetts, and, as of 2002, had a private practice. He married in 1981 and later adopted two children from Peru, now twelve and fifteen (as of 2002). As of 2002, he was a weekend drummer in middle-aged rock bands.
