Info about the Agroforestry Site for Nursery and Demonstration
Green Care is a Cameroon based NGO working for proper environmental protection and sustainable agriculture. They where founded in 1998. Working with in their means, the group has grown over the years. Starting out with a nursery of only 400 trees, they now have a nursery of 4,000 trees. They have done this on rented land. This involves moving all small seedlings every three years to a new location. Once at the new location they are unable to build structures or alter the plot for promotion of seedlings.
This proposal is to obtain a permanent site for Green Care to develop it into a large nursery and demonstration facility. The population is growing. Demands on food and water are growing. Green Care is one of the only organizations in the area promoting environmentally friendly solutions to theses problems. But can only demonstrate solutions in far off locations with willing participants.
Green Care’s office is on a major road to many outlining farming communities. On this road is an undeveloped plot. This plot is ideal for Green Care and their future goals for the NGO’s progress. The plot has year round water supply, easy accesses to the road, only a five minute walk from the office, capacity for many demonstrations, and the space for Green Care to thrive and teach the community an environmentally friendly from of development.
